Porto Santo

The Porto Santo’s small port serves the small cruise liners, a small local fishing fleet and the ferry from Funchal. Located at approximately one kilometre to the east of Vila Baleira, the port was for many years encountered mostly only by ferry passengers. A recent development initiative has introduced O Penedo do Sono, a new complex of bars and cafes offering activities during the day and at night. The marina has 125 berths on pontoons for leisure vessels and it is also possible to anchor in this large, sheltered port.

Vila Baleira is the city and municipal seat of the island of Porto Santo, in the Portuguese Madeiran archipelago. It is an example of one of the few settlements in Portugal with only one civil parish, and only became a city on 6 August 1996.
